The series first appeared on the Japanese novel self-publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2020. Hobby Japan later picked up the series for print publication under their HJ Bunko imprint, with the first light novel volume released in May 2021. As of May 2025, ten volumes of the light novel have been released. The 11th volume is slated for release on October 31, 2025 JST.
Plot Synopsis
“Rich Girl Caretaker” follows Itsuki Tomonari, a high school student from a struggling family who finds himself in a difficult financial situation after his parents abandon him. His life takes an unexpected turn after he gets involved in a kidnapping incident with Hinako Konohana, the scion of a powerful conglomerate family.
While Hinako projects an image of a brilliant and charming young lady at school, she is, in reality, quite helpless and lacks basic life skills. Due to family circumstances, Hinako must maintain her facade as the “perfect young lady.” Itsuki, wanting to protect her, takes on the role of her caretaker. This dynamic eventually leads to Hinako developing strong feelings for Itsuki, transcending their initial master-servervant relationship. The story is described as a love story that begins with a “cute young lady with a gap that transcends the master-servant relationship.”
Manga Adaptation and English Release
In addition to the light novels, “Rich Girl Caretaker” also has a manga adaptation illustrated by Sorahiko Mizushima. This manga began serialization on Hobby Japan’s Comic Fire website in July 2021, with four volumes compiled as of July 2025.
For international readers, Monogatari Novels, a Spain-based publisher, has licensed the light novel series for English publication. The first English volume is expected to be released on March 3, 2026.
