The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of kiki’s dark yuri fantasy light novel series, “Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!” (Japanese title: “Omae Gotoki ga Maō ni Kateru to Omou na” to Yūsha Party o Tsuihō Sareta node, Ōto de Kimama ni Kurashitai), have released its first teaser trailer, key visual, and revealed its main cast. The series is slated to premiere in 2026.
Ayaka Nanase has been cast as the protagonist, Flum Apricot. Flum is described as a girl with zero stats due to her unique “Reversal” affinity, who is chosen by the creator god Origin to join the Hero’s Party. Despite this, she is deemed useless in battle and is despised by a fellow party member, Jean. The anime’s first visual features Flum, aiming to capture the tone of the original Japanese title.
The “Roll Over and Die” series originated as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in January 2018, before being acquired by Micro Magazine and published under their GC Novels imprint. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the official English version of both the light novels and Sunao Minakata’s manga adaptation. The story follows Flum Apricot, a girl with a seemingly useless power called “Reversal.” After being betrayed and sold into slavery, Flum discovers the true, dangerous nature of her ability when she obtains a cursed sword, embarking on a brutal journey for survival and a peaceful life with her companion Milkit. The series is known for its grimdark tone, intense violence, body horror, and yuri elements, offering a unique take on the “Banished from the Hero Party” trope where the protagonist’s battles are messy and hard-won.
