The Grimdark Premise of Roll Over and Die
The Roll Over and Die series began as a web novel by Kiki on Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2018, later picked up for physical publication by Micro Magazine under their GC Novels imprint. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the light novels and Sunao Minakata’s manga adaptation in English.
The story centers on Flum Apricot, who, despite having “zero stats across the board and a power she can’t even use,” finds herself part of a hero’s party. Her life takes a dark turn when Jean Inteige, the party’s sage, decides she’s dead weight and sells her into slavery. Thrown to monsters for entertainment, Flum discovers her seemingly useless “Reversal” power is far more dangerous when she reaches for a cursed weapon, awakening something new within her. The series is described as a “grimdark tale about one woman’s blood-soaked quest to reclaim her life!”
