The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Shu Sakuratani’s manga, “Rooster Fighter” (Niwatori Fighter), is officially slated to debut in Spring 2026. The announcement was made during VIZ Media’s panel at Anime Expo 2025, where a new key visual and a trailer were also unveiled.
The anime, which was initially announced in July 2024, has garnered significant attention for its unique premise. It follows the story of Keiji, a rooster who serves as humanity’s greatest defender against towering opponents, wielding his “fearsome battle cry—Kokekokko!”

The newly released trailer provides a glimpse into the action and humor of the series, showcasing the protagonist, Keiji, in his battle against colossal “Demons.” The animation production is handled by Studio Sanzigen, with Daisuke Suzuki (known for “D4DJ All Mix”) directing the series. Hiroshi Seko (“Jujutsu Kaisen”, “Mob Psycho 100”) is in charge of the series scripts, and Joseph Chou (“Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya”) and SOLA ENTERTAINMENT are producing.

The Manga’s Origins
Shu Sakuratani’s “Rooster Fighter” web manga originally began serialization on Hero’s Inc.’s Comiplex website in December 2020. VIZ Media has licensed the manga in English and has been publishing it, with the seventh volume released in English on February 18, and the tenth compiled book volume published in Japan on July 4. The manga’s unique blend of action, humor, and heart has made it a highly anticipated adaptation among fans.
