The highly anticipated second season of the popular anime series Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun (Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun) has officially announced that veteran voice actress Ryōka Yuzuki will be joining the cast in the role of Sumire. The casting news was revealed on the anime’s official website for the second part of its second season, which premiered on July 6, 2025, on TBS and its affiliates.
Ryōka Yuzuki brings a wealth of experience to the role, having voiced numerous iconic characters across various anime series. Her extensive credits include Satsuki Kiryūin in Kill la Kill, Ino Yamanaka in Naruto and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Shizuka Hiratsuka in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, and Hilda Boreas Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei. Fans of her previous work will undoubtedly be eager to see her interpretation of Sumire within the supernatural world of Kamome Academy.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is based on the manga by the duo Iro Aida, which has been serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy since 2014. The story centers on Nene Yashiro, a high school student who, in her quest for a boyfriend, summons the mischievous ghost Hanako-kun from the school’s toilet. Their fates become intertwined, leading them to navigate a hidden world of supernatural beings and school mysteries.
The anime’s second season initially premiered on January 12, 2025. Crunchyroll is streaming the new season as it airs in Japan, and is also providing an English dub. Yōhei Fukui, who previously served as an episode director for the first season, is directing the main second season at studio Lerche, taking over from Masaomi Andō. Yasuhiro Nakanishi, responsible for series scripts, and Mayuka Itou, the character designer, both returned for the second season. The opening theme song for the second part of the season is “Kagome Kagome,” performed by Masayoshi Ōishi, while Akari Kitō performs the ending theme song “mo∞ent.”
