Ryōsuke Takeuchi, known for his work on the popular mystery manga Moriarty the Patriot, is set to launch a new manga titled Ao no Kotae (Ao’s Solution). The announcement came in the February issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine on Monday, revealing that the new series will debut in the magazine’s upcoming issue on February 4. Takeuchi will be handling the writing, while Masaru Miyokawa will provide the art for the new venture.
A Dive into Teenage Spy Action with Ao no Kotae
Ao no Kotae, which can also be romanized as Ao no Kai, is described as a teenage spy action story. The narrative will follow a boy named Ao who consistently faces challenges during his high school life. The inaugural chapter of the manga will feature a color opening page in Jump SQ.
Takeuchi’s Esteemed Portfolio
Ryōsuke Takeuchi has garnered significant recognition for his role as the storyboard writer for Moriarty the Patriot (Yūkoku no Moriarty), a manga illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi. This series, which reimagines the world of Sherlock Holmes from the perspective of his nemesis, William James Moriarty, began serialization in Jump SQ. magazine in August 2016. The first part of Moriarty the Patriot concluded in December 2022, and a highly anticipated second part began serialization in December 2024. The manga has also inspired a television anime adaptation, which premiered in October 2020. Viz Media is responsible for the English release of Moriarty the Patriot.
Prior to Moriarty the Patriot, Takeuchi and Miyokawa collaborated on the manga St&rs, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2011 to 2012. Takeuchi also contributed storyboards to the manga adaptation of All You Need Is Kill, illustrated by Takeshi Obata, which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump. His diverse works highlight his versatility in storytelling across various genres.
