The highly anticipated announcement was made at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, thrilling fans of the critically acclaimed action-adventure game.
A Loyal Adaptation of FromSoftware’s Masterpiece
Sekiro: No Defeat promises to be a faithful, fully hand-drawn adaptation that channels “the precision and spirit of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice into every frame.” The anime will delve into the unforgettable story of loyalty and blood, set against a fantastical reimagining of Sengoku-era Japan. Players of the original game will recognize the narrative, which follows the shinobi known as Wolf (also referred to as Sekiro) on his arduous quest to protect the young lord Kuro, the last survivor of the Dragon Heritage bloodline.
The initial teaser shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live featured a glimpse of Wolf engaging in combat with Genichiro in a field of reeds, an iconic scene for fans of the game.
Key Creative Team and Cast Revealed
The production team behind Sekiro: No Defeat boasts a lineup of experienced talents. Kenichi Kutsuna is slated to direct the series, bringing his artistic vision to the adaptation. Takuya Satou will handle the screenplay, while Takahiro Kishida is responsible for character designs.
Animation production will be handled by the relatively new studio Qzil.la, with ARCH producing the series. Kadokawa Corporation is also a key partner in bringing this adaptation to life.
The voice cast for the anime includes familiar voices, with Daisuke Namikawa reprising his role as Wolf, Miyuki Satou as Kuro/The Divine Heir, and Kenjiro Tsuda lending his voice to Genichiro Ashina.

Crunchyroll has secured exclusive streaming rights for Sekiro: No Defeat worldwide, with the exception of Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus. This broad availability ensures that a global audience will be able to experience the animated tale of the One-Armed Wolf.
