Tokyo, Japan – The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi (The Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch), a spinoff manga of the popular Crayon Shin-chan franchise, has unveiled a new promotional video. The video provides a deeper look into the series’ premise and, crucially, reveals that the rock band saba sister will perform the ending theme song, titled “Kyō no Gohan wa Nan Darō na” (I Wonder What Today’s Meal Will Be). This follows an earlier announcement detailing the opening theme.
The series is set to premiere on BS Asahi on October 3, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. JST.
A Deeper Look into Hiroshi’s Lunchtime Adventures
The newly released promotional video, streamed by the anime’s official X/Twitter account, offers a minute-long introduction to the story’s core concept: Hiroshi Nohara’s three fundamental approaches to choosing his lunch—as cheaply as possible, as quickly as possible, or as deliciously as possible. This glimpse promises to highlight the relatable struggles and meticulous decisions of the beloved salaryman.
The anime will focus on Hiroshi Nohara, Shin-chan’s 35-year-old father, as he navigates his lunchtime rituals with limited time and money. The narrative delves into his passion for food, offering descriptions of various dishes, culinary trivia, and often humorous complaints about workplace woes, such as obligations to treat seniors or unexpected tasks shortening his lunch break.
The Musical Talent Behind the Series
The production has enlisted distinct artists for its musical themes, setting the tone for Hiroshi’s daily escapades.
Opening Theme: “Gohan Tabeyo” by Mega Shinnosuke
The anime’s opening theme song, “Gohan Tabeyo” (Let’s Eat), will be performed by singer-songwriter Mega Shinnosuke. Mega Shinnosuke is known to be a considerable fan of the Crayon Shin-chan franchise, bringing a personal touch to the theme. The track was previously previewed in an earlier promotional video released in August.
Ending Theme: “Kyō no Gohan wa Nan Darō na” by saba sister
Adding to the series’ sonic landscape, the rock band saba sister will perform the ending theme song, “Kyō no Gohan wa Nan Darō na” (I Wonder What Today’s Meal Will Be). This announcement solidifies the musical direction for the spin-off, promising a fitting conclusion to each episode of Hiroshi’s gastronomic journey.

The Manga Origins
The anime is based on Yōichi Tsukahara’s spin-off manga, Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi. The manga began serialization in Futabasha’s Manga Town magazine in December 2015. After Manga Town ceased publication in December 2023, the series transitioned to the official Manga Crayon Shin-chan website in January 2024. As of September 2025, the manga has been collected into fourteen tankōbon volumes.
The original Crayon Shin-chan manga, created by Yoshito Usui, has inspired a long-running and highly successful franchise, including a television anime running since 1992 and numerous films. Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi aims to expand this legacy by offering a focused look at the daily life of one of its most endearing characters.
