The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Matsuri Isora and Nanna Fujimi’s “Silent Witch” light novel series has announced a new cast member. Yuki Sakakihara will be voicing Neil Clay Maywood, a character in charge of general affairs for the Serendia Academy’s student council. The anime is scheduled to premiere in July 2025.
New Voice Actor Announcement
Yuki Sakakihara, known for roles such as Polka Shinoyama in “Dead Mount Death Play,” will be joining the cast as Neil Clay Maywood. This character is a second-year student at Serendia Academy and a member of the student council, handling general affairs. The announcement was made by Aniplex.
The “Silent Witch” Story
“Secrets of the Silent Witch” follows Monica Everett, also known as the Silent Witch. She is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic and is celebrated as a hero for single-handedly defeating the Black Dragon of legend. However, Monica is extremely shy and learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Despite her lack of self-confidence, the Seven Sages task her with a top-secret mission: guarding the Second Prince.
Yen Press, which licenses the novels, describes the story: “Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually… super-duper shy! Yup, turns out she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.”

About the Light Novels
The original novels debuted on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become Novelists) website in February 2020. Kadokawa began publishing the light novels in June 2021 under the Fujimi Shobo imprint. As of February 2025, nine main volumes have been released, including a short story collection. The 10th volume is planned for release this summer.
Isora and Fujimi also created a two-volume prequel novel series titled “Silent Witch -another- Kekkai no Majutsushi no Nariagari” (Rise of the Barrier Mage), also known as “Secrets of the Silent Witch -another-.” The first volume was released in December 2023, and the second and final volume was released in April 2024.
Manga Adaptation
A manga adaptation of the light novel series, illustrated by Tobi Tana, began serialization on Enterbrain’s B’s Log Comic manga website in July 2021. Yen Press has also licensed the manga adaptation in English.
