The newest spinoff manga of “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,” titled “Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Toaru Kyūka no Sugoshi-kata” (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: How to Spend a Certain Vacation), is set to end in the next issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine on May 26, 2025. This adaptation by Yuzo Takada of Fuse’s spinoff story launched in July 2023.
Storyline and Publication
The manga follows the timeline of the main novels, specifically between the end of the ninth volume and the beginning of the tenth, after the successful conclusion of the Tempest Founder’s Festival. The story revolves around Veldora’s sudden interest in developing beast magic. Rimuru, along with Hinata Sakaguchi, become enthusiastic about this endeavor, leading them to the Magic Tower, considered the holy land of magic.
Kodansha released the first compiled book volume of the manga in January 2024, with the third volume scheduled for release on June 9, 2025. Fuse originally published the spinoff story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2023 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the original light novels.
Original Series and Adaptations
Fuse serialized the original “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from 2013 to 2016, where it amassed over 400 million page views. Micro Magazine began publishing the series in print in 2014, featuring illustrations by Mitz Vah. Yen Press handles the release of the novel series in English.
In January 2025, Fuse mentioned in the 22nd volume of the light novels his desire to conclude the novel series sometime this year.
The first television anime adaptation of Taiki Kawakami’s manga, which itself is an adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah’s light novel series, premiered in October 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the anime, and FUNimation Entertainment provided an English dub.
Other “Slime” Manga Ends
Another “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” spin-off manga, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Ways of Monster Nation,” ended prematurely due to the health issues of the manga artist, Okagiri Koharu. This announcement was made on April 1, 2024, by the editorial department of Comic Ride magazine. The manga had been on hiatus for an extended period due to Okagiri’s health concerns. Despite attempts to resume publication, the editorial department found it difficult to continue the serialization with a full lineup, leading to the decision to end the series. “The Ways of Monster Nation” began in 2016 and explored various aspects of the Isekai world. Yen Press also publishes this series in English.
