The upcoming anime film, Tabekko Dōbutsu THE MOVIE, based on the beloved animal-shaped biscuit snack, has released a delightful new clip showcasing the character Pegasus singing. This sneak peek offers a glimpse into the whimsical world and musical elements of the movie, set to premiere in Japan on May 1, 2025.

What is Tabekko Dōbutsu?

Tabekko Dōbutsu, which translates to “Snack Animals,” are animal-shaped butter biscuits produced by Ginbis Co., Ltd. since 1978. Each biscuit is stamped with the English name of the animal it represents, making them both a tasty treat and an educational tool for children. These snacks have gained international popularity and are available in over 20 countries. Over the years, Tabekko Dōbutsu has expanded beyond just biscuits to include merchandise featuring the adorable animal characters, leading to increased demand for an animated adaptation.

Tabekko Dōbutsu THE MOVIE: A Sweet Adventure

In August 2024, the long-awaited anime film adaptation was officially announced, much to the delight of fans worldwide. Tabekko Dōbutsu THE MOVIE promises a heartwarming and exciting adventure for all ages.

Storyline

The film is set in Sweetsland, a world where humans and various sweets coexist harmoniously. The Tabekko Dōbutsu are popular singing and dancing idols in this world. However, their peaceful lives are disrupted when King Gotton and his cotton candy army launch a campaign to eliminate all other sweets and take over Sweetsland.

During their escape from the cotton candy army, Pegasus gets captured. Despite having no combat skills, the Tabekko Dōbutsu, known for their adorable charm, embark on a mission to rescue their friend and save the world.

The Singing Pegasus

The recently released clip features Pegasus (Pegasus-chan), voiced by Akari Takaishi, showcasing her singing abilities. This highlights the musical aspect of the film and gives fans a taste of the character’s personality. It also unveils three new visuals.
