The ongoing Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime series is set to introduce new characters and theme songs as it kicks off its “Bakumatsu” story arc with episode 14. The anime, which first premiered in Japan on March 31, 2025, is running for two consecutive cours.
The upcoming Bakumatsu arc will feature a fresh opening theme song titled “Ash,” performed by [Alexandros]. The new ending theme will be “Enrin,” by FAKE TYPE. These new themes follow the initial opening theme “Continue” by NEE and the ending theme “Senya Ichiya” (One Thousand and One Nights) by Hilcrhyme feat. Izumi Nakasone from HY, which accompanied the series’ initial run.
In addition to the new musical contributions, several voice actors are joining the cast for the Bakumatsu arc. Toshihiko Seki will voice Yasuhide Hatakeyama, Kenichiro Matsuda is cast as Tsuchiura, and Kazuya Nakai will play Kiichi Okada.
The anime stars Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune, and Saori Hayami as Shirayuki. Hiroshi Shirokuma portrays Doga no Oni, and Yui Kondo voices Tomi no Kijo. The series is directed by Kazuya Aiura at Yokohama Animation Laboratory, with Deko Akao overseeing the series scripts and Taro Ikegami handling character designs. Ryuuichi Takada, Keiichi Hirokawa, and Kuniyuki Takahashi from MONACA are composing the music.
Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho is based on the historical fantasy novel series by Moto’o Nakanishi, illustrated by Tamaki. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses both the original novel series and its manga adaptation in English. HIDIVE is simulcasting the anime, which premiered with a one-hour special first episode on March 31, 2025.
