Kouji Seo’s popular romantic comedy manga, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses (also known as Megami no Café Terrace), is set to conclude its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine with its next eight chapters, including the latest release. The announcement was made in the magazine’s latest issue, accompanying Chapter 210 of the series.
The End of a Beloved Rom-Com Journey
The news marks the impending end for the series that began its run in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in February 2021. Fans have followed the story of Hayato Kasukabe, a young man who inherits his late grandmother’s struggling seaside café, only to discover it’s home to five beautiful young women who consider themselves her family. His reluctant decision to keep the café open, while navigating life with these unruly women, has formed the core of the beloved rom-com.
Publication History and Anime Adaptations
Kouji Seo, known for other successful works like Fuuka and Suzuka, launched The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses to considerable fanfare. The manga has been compiled into 20 tankōbon volumes as of July 2025, with the 21st volume slated for release on October 17. Kodansha USA Publishing has been releasing the manga digitally in English, making it accessible to a global audience.
The series’ popularity also led to an anime adaptation. The first season of The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses anime premiered in April 2023, with a second season following in July 2024. Both seasons have been streamed by Crunchyroll, further expanding the manga’s reach and solidifying its place in the modern romantic comedy landscape. The anime adaptation helped bring Hayato and the five goddesses—Akane, Ami, Riho, Shiragiku, and Ouka—to life for an even wider viewership.
As the series approaches its finale, readers eagerly await to see how Seo will wrap up the heartwarming and often humorous tale of Café Terrace Familia and its unique inhabitants.
