The manga adaptation of Piero Karasu’s popular light novel series, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (Tensei Ōjo to Tensai Reijō no Mahō Kakumei), is officially set to conclude with its ninth volume. The announcement came in the eighth volume of the manga, confirming the approaching end for fans of the fantastical yuri tale.
Harutsugu Nadaka has been illustrating the manga, which has been serialized in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Maoh magazine since July 2020. Yen Press handles the English publication of both the manga and the original light novel series.
A Look Back at the Magical Revolution’s Journey
The story centers around Princess Anisphia Wynn Palettia, who, despite being unable to use traditional magic, harbors a deep love for it, fueled by memories of a past life in a modern world. Her innovative spirit leads her to develop “magicology,” a unique magical theory that allows her to create various magical gadgets.
Her path intertwines with that of Euphyllia Magenta, a brilliant noblewoman unjustly stripped of her title as the kingdom’s next monarch by Anisphia’s younger brother, Algard. Anisphia, witnessing this injustice, devises a plan to help Euphyllia regain her honor, which unexpectedly leads to them living and researching magic together. Their evolving relationship and scientific pursuits become the driving force behind a “magical revolution” that challenges the kingdom’s traditional views on magic and societal norms.
The Manga’s Narrative Arc
The manga adaptation, drawn by Harutsugu Nadaka, has faithfully brought Piero Karasu’s story to life, depicting the intricate relationship between Anisphia and Euphyllia and their efforts to reform the Kingdom of Palettia. The eighth volume, released in Japan on November 27, 2025, covers chapters 43-48 of the manga. Yen Press previously published the manga’s sixth volume in December 2024.
Original Light Novel and Anime Adaptation
The original light novel series, written by Piero Karasu and illustrated by Yuri Kisaragi, began its online serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2019, concluding in August 2021. Fujimi Shobo later picked it up for print publication under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, with the first volume released in January 2020. As of October 2025, the light novel series has 11 volumes with an ongoing status in its country of origin, and the 12th volume is slated for publication on January 20. The light novels were highly popular, ranking #10 on BookWalker’s top-selling titles for 2023.
The series also received an anime television series adaptation produced by Diomedéa, which aired from January to March 2023. The anime covered approximately the first three light novel volumes. Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Asia, making it accessible to a global audience. The anime further boosted the series’ popularity, introducing many new fans to Anisphia and Euphyllia’s compelling journey.
Fans looking to delve into the original source material after the anime can start with light novel Volume 4, as the manga is currently behind the anime’s progression.
