The Story of an Accidental Accountant in Another World
The anime follows the journey of Seiichirou Kondō, a diligent corporate employee nearing thirty, who finds himself accidentally transported to another world through a saint-summoning ritual. Despite the unexpected relocation, Seiichirou’s inherent workaholic nature prevails, leading him to join the royal accounting department of the Romany Kingdom. Here, he encounters Aresh Indrak, the “Ice Prince” and commander of the Third Knights’ Order, initiating an unusual and evolving relationship that blends fantasy, workplace drama, and boys-love romance.
Production Team and Musical Talent
Studio DEEN is producing the anime, with Shinji Ishihara (known for “Sasaki and Miyano,” “Super Lovers”) at the helm as director. Yoshiko Nakamura, also a collaborator on “Sasaki and Miyano,” is in charge of series composition. Maki Fujii, another “Sasaki and Miyano” alumna, is handling character designs, while Megumi Ōhashi (“Yuri Is My Job!”) is composing the music. The opening theme song, “Magic,” will be performed by Kobore, while Win Morisaki will perform the ending theme, “Back to Back”.
Origin of “The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter”
The anime is an adaptation of the popular boys-love light novel series “Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai,” written by Yatsuki Wakatsu and illustrated by Kikka Ohashi. The series began serialization online in March 2018 before being acquired by Enterbrain, which has published three volumes of the light novel as of September 2021. A manga adaptation, featuring art by Kazuki Irodori, has been serialized online since March 2020, with seven tankōbon volumes released as of October 2025. Both the light novel and manga adaptations are licensed for English release by Yen Press.
