A Glimpse into the Isekai Boys’ Love Story
“The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” is a Boys’ Love (BL) isekai series that began as a light novel by Yatsuki Wakatsu with illustrations by Kikka Ohashi. A manga adaptation, drawn by Kazuki Irodori, has also been serialized. Yen Press publishes both the light novels and manga in English.
The story centers on Seiichirou Kondou, a 29-year-old workaholic accountant from Japan who finds himself accidentally transported to another world. Far from seeking a leisurely life, Seiichirou immediately demands a job, eventually becoming an accountant in the Romany Kingdom’s Royal Accounting Department, where he endeavors to bring order to its lackadaisical operations. His diligent, almost obsessive work ethic leads him to cross paths with the handsome Commander Aresh, the Captain of the Knights. Their evolving relationship forms the core of this unique fantasy romance. The series is praised for exploring a dynamic between a devoted nobleman and a workaholic from another world, offering a compelling narrative that delves into themes beyond just work, and a deepening bond between the two lead characters.
Creative Talent Behind the Music
The selection of Kobore for the opening theme “Magic” and Win Morisaki for the ending theme “Back to Back” adds another layer of anticipation for the anime’s soundtrack. Both artists are known for their distinct musical styles, promising to complement the unique blend of fantasy, romance, and workplace comedy that “The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” offers. Music composition for the series is handled by Megumi Ōhashi, with Nippon Columbia producing the music.
