The popular light novel series, “The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!” (Saikyō no Shokugyō wa Yūsha Demo Kenja Demo Naku Kantei-shi (Kari) Rashii Desu yo?), is officially getting a TV anime adaptation slated for release in April 2026. The announcement was made recently, coinciding with the release of the eighth volume of the light novel series.
Details on the Anime Adaptation
Studio Flad will be helming the production of “The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!” anime. Makoto Hoshino, known for directing the first season of Banished From The Hero’s Party, is set to direct the series. The character designs will be handled by Mihoko Okawa and Yoshie Matsumoto, while Megumi Shimizu, who worked on Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter, will be in charge of the series composition.
The main cast members announced for the adaptation include:
- Hisako Kanemoto as Hibiki Manabe
- Shizuka Ito as Emalia
- Kenta Miyake as Claude
- Lamalfa Michelle Tateyama as Lilian
- Yukina Shuto as Vene
The Compelling Story of the Provisional Appraiser
The series centers on Hibiki Manabe, a high school student who finds himself suddenly transported to a fantasy world. Unlike the grand combat skills often associated with heroes or sages, Hibiki is bestowed with the seemingly non-combat skill of “Appraisal.” Initially facing a hopeless situation in a monster-filled land, he is saved through unexpected encounters, leading to the miraculous blossoming of his “all-powerful abilities.” The narrative follows Hibiki’s journey of self-discovery and growth as he learns to utilize his unique appraisal skill to navigate this new world, forming a party and aiming to return home.
Origins of the Series
“The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!” originated as a web novel in 2016. It was later picked up for publication as a light novel series by Alphapolis in 2017, featuring illustrations by Akira Shigaraki. The series also has a manga adaptation, further expanding its reach among fantasy and Isekai genre enthusiasts.
Clarification on Similar Titles
It is worth noting that another anime with a somewhat similar title, “Even Given the Worthless ‘Appraiser’ Class, I’m Actually the Strongest” (Fugūshoku “Kanteishi” ga Jitsu wa Saikyō Datta), premiered earlier, airing from January to March 2025. Fans should distinguish between these two adaptations, as the newly announced anime for April 2026 specifically refers to “The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!”
