The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” has officially revealed a 2026 premiere window, accompanied by the release of its first teaser video. Crunchyroll has also announced that it will stream the romantic comedy series worldwide, excluding Asia but including India.
The announcement was made during the Crunchyroll Showcase panel at Anime NYC 2025, offering fans a first look at the upcoming fantasy rom-com.
A Lovestruck Demon’s Unlikely Confession
The anime adaptation is based on Suisei’s light novel series and Kairi’s manga, which tells the unique story of Yoki (also spelled Youki), a reincarnated demon who finds himself in a rather unexpected predicament. Tasked with confronting the hero’s party, Yoki, a mid-tier demon with significant power, instantly falls in love with Cecilia, the hero’s party priestess, upon their encounter. His newfound affection leads him to vow a confession, even if it means betraying the Demon King and his own allegiances. This setup promises a pure isekai rom-com fantasy exploring the possibility of love between a demon and a human.
Key Staff and Voice Cast Revealed
The production team behind “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” features several notable talents. Yasutaka Yamamoto (known for Medalist) is serving as Chief Director, with Tomonori Mine (Isekai Onsen Paradise) as Director. Yukie Sugawara (OVERLORD Seasons 1-4) is handling both series composition and scriptwriting. Mina Ōsawa is credited with the animation character designs, adapting the original character designs by La-na. The musical score will be composed by Satoru Kōsaki and MONACA. Animation production for the series is being handled by Studio Gekkō.
The main voice cast has also been announced, with Kōhei Amasaki cast as the protagonist Yoki and Kana Hanazawa lending her voice to Cecilia.
Streaming Exclusively on Crunchyroll
Fans outside of Asia (with the exception of India and the Indian Subcontinent) will be able to watch “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” exclusively on Crunchyroll when it premieres in 2026. The platform has been actively acquiring new titles, with this series being among its anticipated offerings for the coming year.
