Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block has officially announced that it will add the television anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s “DAN DA DAN” manga to its lineup. The series is set to premiere on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 12:30 a.m. EDT (effectively, July 27) in the United States.
The supernatural romantic comedy will join a slate of other popular anime, with the July 26 schedule featuring “Dragon Ball Daima” at 12:00 a.m. EDT, followed by “DAN DA DAN” at 12:30 a.m. EDT. Other shows in the block for that evening include “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War,” “Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga,” “One Piece,” “Lazarus” (subtitled), and “Naruto.”
“DAN DA DAN” tells the story of Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. They initially argue, with Momo believing in ghosts but denying aliens, and Okarun believing in aliens but denying ghosts. To prove their beliefs, they each venture to locations rumored to be haunted or to have UFO sightings, leading them to encounter overwhelming paranormal activities. Amidst these events, Momo awakens a hidden power, and Okarun gains the power of a curse, setting the stage for their “fateful love” and the start of their occult battle and adolescence.
The anime series is produced by Science SARU and directed by Fūga Yamashiro. The first season of “DAN DA DAN” originally premiered in Japan on October 3, 2024, on TBS and MBS. Netflix and Crunchyroll both streamed the first season worldwide. A second season debuted on July 3, 2025, with Crunchyroll also streaming it as it airs. While new episodes of “DAN DA DAN” Season 2 are currently releasing on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix, Toonami is expected to begin by airing the first season.
