Kadokawa has announced that Yawora Tsugumi’s dark workplace comedy manga, Gōmon Baito-kun no Nichijō (The Everyday Life of Torture Part-Time Workers), is being adapted into a television anime series set to premiere in Winter 2026.
What’s the Buzz About?
The announcement was made on Friday, June 20, 2025, accompanied by the reveal of the main cast, a teaser visual, and a promotional video. The series promises a unique blend of comedy and slice-of-life elements within a rather…unconventional setting.
The Plot: A Day in the Life of a Torture Company
Gōmon Baito-kun no Nichijō is set in a world where torture and killing are legal, and companies specialize in these grim activities. The story centers around Cero, a cheerful and easygoing part-time worker at one such company, and his experiences alongside his colleagues:
- Cero: Voiced by Junya Enoki (PV). A friendly and approachable employee.
- Shū: Voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya (PV). He acts laid-back but gets the job done with precision.
- Mike: Looks cute but is surprisingly sharp-tongued during torture sessions.
- Hugh: Afraid of blood but can handle everything else.
Two new part-time hires, Mikke and Hugh, also join the company, and the four enjoy their torture-working life.
Production
The manga launched on Hakusensha’s Young Animal Web service in December 2022. As of December 2024, five tankōbon volumes have been released, with the sixth volume slated for release on June 27, 2025.
Meet the Creator
The manga is written and illustrated by Yawora Tsugumi. Other works by Tsugumi include:
- I Confessed to a Girl and She Made Me a Girl Too!
- Sakusha no Garyoku ga Tarinai.
Tsugumi Yawora has shared a comment and special illustration to celebrate the anime announcement, “Ever since I started drawing Gomon Baito-kun no Nichijo, I’ve experienced so many things that felt unreal—things I never even dreamed of. I’m constantly reminded of how much support this series has received from everyone involved and from all the readers. And now, it’s being made into an anime—something that could be called the biggest dream for a manga artist. This is a dream we can all share. Please stay with us until we wake up from it—or better yet, let’s never wake up.”
