The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Suisei’s light novel series, “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” (Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita), has announced that voice actors Toshiki Masuda and Minami Tanaka will be joining its cast. The fantasy romantic comedy is slated to premiere in 2026, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series globally, excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent.
New Additions to the Voice Cast
Toshiki Masuda will lend his voice to the character Duke, a Dullahan who previously served as a subordinate to Yōki, the protagonist. Minami Tanaka is cast as Seek, a Pixie, also a former subordinate of Yōki. Character visuals for both Duke and Seek have been released alongside the announcement.
These new cast members join an already announced lineup that includes Kōhei Amasaki as Yōki, Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia, Ryōhei Kimura as Yūga, and Yūko Natsuyoshi as Mikana.
Meet the Voices Behind the Characters
Toshiki Masuda is a prolific voice actor known for his energetic performances and dynamic range. He has voiced numerous popular characters across various anime, including Eijiro Kirishima in “My Hero Academia,” Chikara Ennoshita in “Haikyuu!!,” and Iori Izumi in “IDOLiSH7.” Masuda also has a career as a stage actor and singer.
Minami Tanaka is a celebrated voice actress with a diverse portfolio. Her notable roles include Lily Hoshikawa in “Zombieland Saga,” Mary Saotome in “Kakegurui,” and Hana N. Fountainstand in “Hanayamata.” Tanaka has received accolades for her work, including the Rookie Actress Award at the 11th Seiyu Awards.
About the Anime Series
“There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” is an isekai romantic comedy that follows Yōki, a man reincarnated as a demon underling. His task is to confront the hero’s party, but he unexpectedly falls in love at first sight with the priestess, Cecilia. Driven by his feelings, Yōki decides to confess his love to Cecilia, setting the stage for an unusual romance between sworn enemies.
Production Team and Release
The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio Gekkō. Yasutaka Yamamoto (known for “Medalist” and “Servant × Service”) serves as chief director, with Tomonori Mine (“Isekai Onsen Paradise”) directing the series. Yukie Sugawara (“Overlord,” “No Guns Life”) is responsible for writing and overseeing the series scripts. Mina Ōsawa (“The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest”) is adapting illustrator La-na’s original character designs for animation. The music for the series is being composed by Satoru Kōsaki and MONACA.
The series is based on the light novels by Suisei, which began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in July 2013, and a manga adaptation by Kairi, which started in January 2021. The anime is confirmed to debut in 2026. Crunchyroll will handle the streaming for the series, making it accessible to a wide international audience.
