The original anime “Turkey!”, initially presented as a coming-of-age story centered on a high school bowling club, has unveiled a significant plot twist, leading to a new title, additional cast members, and updated promotional materials. The series is now officially titled “Turkey!-Time to Strike-“.
The surprising revelation came at the conclusion of the first episode: the five main characters, members of the Ikkokukan High School bowling team in Nagano Prefecture, unexpectedly time-travel to Japan’s Sengoku period. This genre-bending twist transforms the narrative from a straightforward sports story into a blend of bowling and historical adventure, where the girls encounter the Tokura family, setting the stage for an emotional and action-filled tale.
Accompanying this major plot development, a second promotional video and a third key visual have been released. The new visual notably depicts the five bowling club members alongside the Tokura family amidst a backdrop of flames, hinting at the dramatic shift in their circumstances.
Furthermore, the anime has expanded its cast. Five new voice actors have joined the production: Noriko Hidaka as Sumomo, Yuko Minaguchi as Akebi, Kikuko Inoue as Suguri, Miki Ito as Anzu, and Rei Sakuma as Natsume. These additions complement the previously announced main cast, which includes Hana Hishikawa as Mai Otonashi, Kana Ichinose as Rina Godai, Haruki Iwata as Sayuri Ichinose, Yuuki Tenma as Nozomi Mitaka, and Ayasa Ito as Nanase Nikaido.
“Turkey!-Time to Strike-” premiered on July 8, 2025, on Nippon TV and other networks in Japan, with international streaming available via Crunchyroll. The original announcement for “Turkey!” was made in December 2022, detailing its setting in Chikuma City, Nagano, and its focus on five schoolgirls. The anime is produced by Pony Canyon and animated by Bakken Record, a new label from Tatsunoko Production. Key staff members include Susumu Kudo as director, Naomi Hiruta on scriptwriting, Airi Takekawa handling character designs, and Yuki Hayashi composing the music. The opening theme song, “Hyakunichisou,” is performed by the five main cast members under the name “Ikkokukan High School Bowling Club, Nagano Prefecture”.
