What is Ikimasu? Ikimasu is a verb meaning “go”. Ikimashita is the past tense of ikimasu. Ni is a particle. This particle is basically used to indicate an indirect object. Put simply, here, the particle ni indicates the direction of going.

What does Hayashi mean in Japanese? Hayashi (林, literally “woods”), is the 19th most common Japanese surname. It shares the same character as the Chinese surname Lin.

What is Tokoro? In Japanese, the word tokoro is written in kanji as 所 when it is used to mean a place; spot; scene; site and so on. It’s pretty common to say “your place” when referring to their house, just like it is in English.

What is Orimasu? For example, ORIMASU (to get off) becomes ORIRU. For the other, you remove MASU, and change the vowel I before MASU, to the vowel U. So, in IKIMASU (to go), you change KI to KU, and get IKU. There are two irregular verbs that don’t fit the above patterns. They are KIMASU (to come), and SHIMASU (to do).
