What inspired Ai Yazawa?
Ai Yazawa was born in Osaka in 1967. As she stated, hers is a stage name inspired by the Japanese singer Ekichi Yazawa. She showed a great passion for drawing since she was a child, in middle school she participated in a cartoonist contest for Shueisha, winning the first prize as a rookie.
