The Yaiba: Samurai Legend anime is charging forward with its second cour, set to premiere on June 28, 2025. Alongside the continuation of Yaiba’s thrilling adventures, fans can look forward to fresh additions to the cast and new theme songs that promise to amplify the excitement.
New Cast Members Join the Battle!
The staff for Yaiba: Samurai Legend revealed that Sayaka Senbongi will be joining the cast as Nadeshiko Yamato.
- Sayaka Senbongi as Nadeshiko Yamato: Nadeshiko is a woman who encountered Yaiba during his jungle childhood. She fervently believes in his promise to marry her once he becomes stronger, dedicating herself to rigorous training. Upon learning of Yaiba’s whereabouts, she embarks on a journey to reunite with him.
Senbongi shared her excitement about joining the series: “I never imagined I’d be part of one of Gosho Aoyama-sensei’s works like YAIBA, so I was truly thrilled when I found out I was cast! Even though Nadeko only appears in one chapter of the original manga, I poured everything into expressing her unwavering feelings for Yaiba during the recording sessions. I hope fans will enjoy seeing her in the anime.”

Theme Songs Get an Upgrade
The opening and ending theme songs for Yaiba: Samurai Legend Cour 2 have been announced, adding a new layer of musical energy to the series.
Opening Theme: “BLADE -Kizuna ver-” by BLUE ENCOUNT
- BLUE ENCOUNT, who performed the first cour’s opening theme, is returning with a new version of their song “BLADE.” This time, it’s titled “BLADE -Kizuna ver-,” featuring the song’s second verse.
- Shunichi Tanabe, the lead vocalist and guitarist, commented: “The first cour of YAIBA focused on the main character’s personal growth. For the second cour, we wanted to emphasize the bonds he builds with those around him. ‘Being strong on your own is important—but with allies, you can become the strongest.’ That message reflects our journey as a band for over 20 years, and we hope our music can stand beside viewers as a companion.”
Ending Theme: “ACTION!” by Kairi Yagi⚡️Denon Yugi
- Kairi Yagi⚡️Denon Yugi will be performing the new ending theme, “ACTION!”.
- Vocalist Kairi Yagi shared their inspiration: “ACTION!” was inspired by the passion and honesty of Yaiba’s adventures. We created it with the hope that it will give listeners a boost of courage to face their own futures.”
- The previous ending theme was “Pineapple Tart” by -otoha-.

Yaiba: Samurai Legend is directed by Takahiro Hasui (Mob Psycho 100 III) at WIT Studio. The series composition is handled by Toko Machida (Kemono Michi: Rise Up), with character designs and chief animation direction by Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100). Story of Yaiba
Yaiba: Samurai Legend follows the adventures of Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai who has spent his life training in the jungle. He returns to Japan and begins living with the Mine family, who have connections to his father, Kenjuro. Yaiba’s wild ways often baffle Sayaka Mine, the daughter of the family. One day, Yaiba encounters Takeshi Onimaru, a skilled kendo practitioner, setting the stage for an epic rivalry.
When Onimaru obtains the “Legendary Demon Sword”, he is set on a journey full of spectacle and great adventure. Yaiba and his allies embark on a quest to defeat the newly transformed demon lord, encountering figures from Japanese history and mythology along the way.
About the Manga
Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1988 to 1993 and has been licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media.
Aoyama Gosho Hour
Yaiba: Samurai Legend debuted on April 5, 2025, airing on YTV, NTV, and their affiliates throughout Japan. It airs right before Detective Conan in the “Gōshō Aoyama Hour” block.
