Manga creator Yasunobu Yamauchi is set to launch a new series, Joshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō (Daily Lives of High School Girls), on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website starting October 18, 2025. This highly anticipated release follows his successful comedy manga, Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō (Daily Lives of High School Boys).
New Series Explores the “Silly” Side of High School Girls
The upcoming manga, Joshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō, is teased with the tagline, “High School girls are also silly,” hinting at a similar comedic, slice-of-life tone to its male counterpart. It will be published digitally on Square Enix’s Gangan Online platform, the same outlet where Yamauchi’s previous hit was serialized. Fans can expect the series to delve into the humorous and relatable daily antics of a group of female high school students.
Yasunobu Yamauchi’s Acclaimed “Daily Lives of High School Boys”
Yasunobu Yamauchi is best known for Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō, a popular comedy manga that ran on Gangan Online from 2009 to 2012. The series, which chronicled the absurd yet relatable everyday lives of three ordinary high school boys—Tadakuni, Hidenori Tabata, and Yoshitake Tanaka—gained significant popularity for its witty humor and unconventional portrayal of teenage life.
The manga’s success led to a 12-episode anime television adaptation in 2012 by Sunrise, which further expanded its fanbase. NIS America released the anime on home video in North America. The series also inspired a live-action film adaptation in 2013, showcasing its widespread appeal and cultural impact. The Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō manga was compiled into seven volumes, with Vertical publishing the English editions.
Yamauchi also penned the fantasy manga Hakurai no Kishi (The Knight of White Thunder), which concluded in 2022. However, it is his unique comedic style, exemplified in Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō, that has resonated most strongly with readers.
Anticipation for a New Chapter in High School Humor
With Joshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō, Yamauchi returns to the high school comedy genre, this time focusing on a female cast. The thematic connection to his previous major work suggests that fans can anticipate the same brand of quirky, observational humor that made Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō a beloved series. The launch on Gangan Online provides an accessible platform for both long-time fans and new readers to experience Yamauchi’s latest comedic venture.
