Yasushi Baba, the acclaimed manga artist behind the popular series The Ride-On King, is set to launch a brand-new manga titled Itsuwari no Kenta (Fake Kenta) this month. The new series will debut in the January issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, which will be released on December 25.
Itsuwari no Kenta Set to Debut with Fanfare
Itsuwari no Kenta will feature an opening color page and be prominently featured on the cover of the Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, signaling Kodansha’s strong support for Baba’s latest work. The announcement comes shortly after the conclusion of The Ride-On King, which ended its serialization on October 24 in the same magazine.
A Glimpse into the “Fake Centaur” Isekai Fantasy
The upcoming series is teased as an “isekai fantasy” — a genre where a character is transported to another world. The plot revolves around a boy who encounters a “unicorn” and subsequently transforms into a “fake centaur.” This unique premise is expected to draw in fans of the genre and those familiar with Baba’s distinctive storytelling.

Yasushi Baba has a notable history in the manga industry, having garnered a dedicated readership with his previous works. His ability to blend action, humor, and unique character concepts has been a hallmark of his style.
The Legacy of The Ride-On King
The Ride-On King (pictured at right in some news reports) began its run in Monthly Shonen Sirius in May 2018 and concluded recently on October 24. The manga followed Alexander Purchinov, the president of the country of Pursia, on his quest to ride everything in his world, eventually setting his sights on a fantasy world filled with orcs, wyverns, and centaurs. The series gained a following for its imaginative premise and Purchinov’s imposing, yet often humorous, demeanor. Sol Press had previously licensed the manga, releasing its first volume in July 2019.
Prior Work: Golosseum
Before The Ride-On King, Baba also penned the Golosseum manga, which concluded in December 2017. Kodansha USA Publishing has released the six-volume series in North America, further cementing Baba’s presence in the international manga market.
With the launch of Itsuwari no Kenta, fans are eagerly anticipating what new adventures and unique characters Yasushi Baba will introduce to the world of manga. The debut on December 25 is poised to be a significant event for readers of Monthly Shonen Sirius.
