Yoshiru Konogi’s manga series, Eroko-san on the Attack (also known as Shingeki no Eroko-san: Hen’na Onee-san wa Danshikōsei to Nakayoku Naritai), is set to conclude in three more chapters. The announcement was made in this year’s 15th issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine on Friday.
The End of a NEET’s Romantic Pursuit
The impending conclusion brings to a close the comedic and often outlandish romantic pursuits of its protagonist, Eruko Shindou. The series, which began serialization in 2019, follows Eruko, a 27-year-old former NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) who has a popular, risqué online persona. After her savings run out, she takes a job as a handyman, where she meets and quickly becomes infatuated with her high school coworker, Hoshi-kun.
Eroko’s Delusions and Realities
A central comedic element of the manga revolves around Eruko’s struggle to differentiate between her vivid romantic delusions and reality, often leading to humorous attempts to get closer to Hoshi-kun. Despite her wild imaginings, the series has gradually hinted that Hoshi-kun may reciprocate her feelings. The manga is a spin-off of Konogi’s earlier work, Henjo – Hen na Joshi Kousei Amaguri Senko, with Eroko-san on the Attack taking place after volume 14 of Henjo.
