The highly anticipated You and Idol Precure! anime has unveiled two new cast members who will play crucial roles in the upcoming series. With its premiere just around the corner, fans are eager to learn more about the characters and the story that awaits them.

New Fairies Join the Cast

The anime, which is set to premiere on February 2, 2025, has announced that Yoshino Nanjo will be voicing Purirun, and Miharu Hanai will be the voice behind Meroron. These two fairies hail from Kirakira Land, and they play a significant role in the plot, as they are the ones who seek out the legendary warriors known as Precure.

Purirun: The Easygoing Fairy

Purirun, voiced by Yoshino Nanjo, is described as an easygoing character. She embarks on a journey from Kirakira Land to find the legendary Idol Precure warriors. Nanjo is well-known for her role as Eli Ayase in Love Live! School Idol Project, bringing experience in portraying an idol character to her new role as a Precure fairy.

Meroron: The Mischievous Companion

Miharu Hanai, who will be voicing Meroron, is described as a mischievous companion. Hanai is known for her role as Kokoa in Acro Trip. Together, Purirun and Meroron will guide the main characters as they embark on their journey as Precure idols.

The Story of You and Idol Precure!

You and Idol Precure! tells the story of Uta Sakura, a second-year middle school student who loves to sing and lives in Hanamichi Town. One day, while walking her dog, Kyū-chan, she discovers a giant peach-like object floating down the river. This is where she encounters Purirun, who has come to the human world in search of the legendary Idol Precure.

The Threat to Kirakira Land

Purirun’s home, Kirakira Land, is under threat from the Chokkiri Gang, led by the villainous Darkiine. Adding to the chaos, the Chokkiri Gang begins stealing the “sparkle” from the residents of Hanamichi Town. This prompts Uta to proclaim, “I want to sparkle! With my song!”

The Birth of Cure Idol

Fueled by her desire to restore the sparkle to her town, Uta transforms into Cure Idol, the first of the Idol Precure warriors. The series will follow Uta and her fellow Precure as they use their unique abilities to sing, dance, and engage with their “fans,” all while battling the forces of evil.

Main Characters and Voice Cast

Alongside the newly announced fairies, the main cast of You and Idol Precure! includes:

  • Misato Matsuoka as Uta Sakura / Cure Idol: A second-year middle school student who loves to sing. Her catchphrase is: “Singing with you, shining hearts! Smiling brightly, Cure Idol!”
  • Minami Takahashi as Nana Aokaze / Cure Wink: A second-year middle schooler who is skilled at playing the piano. Her catchphrase is: “Twinkling with you, brave hearts! Winking brightly, Cure Wink!”
  • Natsumi Takamori as Kokoro Shigure / Cure Kyun-Kyun: A first-year middle school student and talented dancer. Her catchphrase is: “Dancing with you, rhythmic hearts! Feeling Kyun kyun, Cure Kyun Kyun!”

Premiere and Streaming Details

The series is scheduled to premiere on February 2, 2025, on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other affiliated channels throughout Japan. It will also be available on the Broadcasting System of San-in, as well as on TVer and other streaming services.

Idol Theme and Music

You and Idol Precure! embraces a vibrant idol theme, making it the second series in the franchise to focus on music and singing, the first being Suite Precure. The tagline for the series is, “With ‘you,’ I can shine brighter and become stronger!” emphasizing the importance of connection between the idols and their fans.

Theme Songs and Single Release

The opening theme, titled “Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Light Up!“, is performed by Ami Ishii, Akane Kumada, and Chihaya Yoshitake. The ending theme, “Trio Dreams,” is sung by the main trio of Precure heroines. A single release featuring full-length versions of the solo songs performed by Cure Idol (“Egao no Unison“), Cure Wink (“Mabataki no Senfu“), and Cure Kyun Kyun (“Kokoro Revolution“) is set to release on February 26, 2025.

Production Team

The creative team behind You and Idol Precure! includes:

  • Director: Chiaki Kon
  • Series Composition: Yōichi Katō
  • Character Designer: Miho Sugimoto
  • Music Composers: Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase

Anticipation Builds for the Premiere

With the addition of Yoshino Nanjo and Miharu Hanai as the voices of the companion fairies, Purirun and Meroron, the excitement for You and Idol Precure! continues to grow. The series is expected to deliver a unique blend of magical girl action with the charm and appeal of idol culture. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere to see how the new characters and story unfold in this highly anticipated installment of the Pretty Cure franchise.
