The highly anticipated You and Idol Precure! anime has revealed two new voice actors joining its cast, adding to the buzz surrounding the 22nd installment of the popular magical girl franchise. Yoshino Nanjo and Miharu Hanai will be lending their talents to the series, which is set to premiere on February 2nd.

New Fairies Join the Adventure

Yoshino Nanjo, known for her role as Eli Ayase in Love Live! School Idol Project, will voice Purirun, a cheerful and easygoing fairy. Miharu Hanai, recognized for her work as Kokoa in Acro Trip, will play Meroron, a mischievous and playful fairy. These two characters hail from Kirakira Land and journey to the human world in search of the legendary Idol Precure.

A Quest for Sparkling Idols

Purirun and Meroron’s arrival is pivotal to the plot of You and Idol Precure!. They seek out the Precure to help save their home, Kirakira Land, from the encroaching darkness brought by the Chokkiri Gang. Their roles as companion fairies will likely be crucial as the series unfolds.

You and Idol Precure! Plot and Premise

The anime centers around Uta Sakura, a middle school student who loves to sing. She discovers a mysterious peach-like object floating down a river and encounters Purirun, setting the stage for her transformation into Cure Idol. The series will see Uta, alongside her fellow Precure, battle the Chokkiri Gang using the power of song and dance.

Main Characters and Voice Actors

The main cast for You and Idol Precure! includes:

  • Misato Matsuoka as Cure Idol/Uta Sakura: The energetic and determined protagonist who transforms into the lead Precure.
  • Minami Takahashi as Cure Wink/Nana Aokaze: One of the Precure who will be joining the team.
  • Natsumi Takamori as Cure Kyun-Kyun/Kororo Shigure: The third member of the Precure team.

The series will see the Precure using their unique talents to combat the Chokkiri Gang, who are stealing the “sparkle” from the residents of Hanamichi Town. The girls will be using their musical and dancing skills to restore light and happiness to the world.

Production Details and Release Information

You and Idol Precure! is directed by Chiaki Kon with Yoichi Kato overseeing series scripts. The character designs are by Miho Sugimoto. The anime is being produced by Toei Animation and is scheduled to premiere on February 2, 2025, on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and other affiliated channels throughout Japan. It will air every Sunday at 8:30 AM JST. The series will also be available on various streaming platforms and TVer.

Music and Theme Songs

The opening theme song, “Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Light Up!” is performed by Chihaya Yoshitake, Ami Ishii, and Akane Kumada. The ending theme song, “Trio Dreams”, will be performed by the three main Precure voice actresses: Misato Matsuoka, Minami Takahashi, and Natsumi Takamori. A debut CD single by the trio, including their solo stage songs is set to be released on February 26, 2025.

A Series with Musical Flair

You and Idol Precure! marks the second time that music and singing have been a central theme in the Precure franchise, following Suite PreCure. The main motif of this season is idols, with the Precure using their talents to engage fans, protect others, and restore sparkle to the world.

Movie in the Works

Adding to the excitement, a movie adaptation, tentatively titled You and Idol Precure! The Movie, is slated for release in Japan in the fall of 2025. More details including cast, crew and story are expected to be released later this year.

A Look at the Story

The story begins in Hanamichi Town, with the bubbly and energetic Uta Sakura, who loves to sing. When the “sparkle” of the town’s residents is stolen by the Chokkiri Gang, Uta transforms into Cure Idol, determined to bring back the light. The transformation phrase for Cure Idol is: “Singing with you, a sparkling heart! A big, bright smile—Cure Idol!”

The Threat of the Chokkiri Gang

Kiraki Land, the home of Purirun and Meroron, is being threatened by Darkine, the boss of the Chokkiri Gang. This evil organization is stealing sparkles, and it’s up to the Precure to stop them. The Precures must use their combined abilities to overcome the challenges they face.

Anticipation Builds

With a release date just days away, and new cast members announced, anticipation for You and Idol Precure! is very high. The unique blend of magical girl action with idol culture promises a series full of energy, music, and heartfelt moments. The addition of Yoshino Nanjo and Miharu Hanai is an added bonus for fans of the franchise.
