However, fans of the beloved Aoashi universe have cause for excitement, as the Aoashi Brotherfoot spinoff is officially slated to resume serialization in April 2026. Yūgo Kobayashi’s New Manga Sees Delay
The anticipated new series from Yūgo Kobayashi, creator of the popular soccer manga Aoashi, will now launch later than its initial spring 2026 schedule in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine. While no new specific release window has been provided, the announcement indicated that more details regarding the project would be revealed once available. This new manga follows the conclusion of his highly successful Aoashi series, which ran for a decade.
Aoashi Brotherfoot Spinoff Resumes Serialization
In positive news for followers of the Aoashi narrative, the spinoff manga Aoashi Brotherfoot is set to make its return to Weekly Big Comic Spirits in April 2026. The spinoff, which focuses on the character Shun Aoi, originally ran for five chapters in 2021 and was compiled into a single volume in August of the same year. Its resumption offers a welcomed continuation for readers eager to delve further into the world established by Kobayashi.
Background on Aoashi and Kobayashi’s Work
Yūgo Kobayashi launched the main Aoashi manga in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in January 2015. The series garnered critical acclaim, winning the Best General Manga at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020. It concluded its serialization with its 40th compiled book volume on August 29, 2025. The manga’s popularity also led to an anime adaptation by Production I.G, which premiered in April 2022. A second season of the Aoashi anime, produced by TMS Entertainment, is scheduled to premiere next year. Titan Manga is also preparing to release the Aoashi manga in English in an omnibus format, starting in May 2026.
