Fans of the unique isekai comedy, “Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon,” can rejoice as a third season has been officially confirmed. The announcement came swiftly after the conclusion of the second season’s final episode, which aired on Wednesday.
The news was shared via the anime’s official website and social media accounts, accompanied by an announcement illustration to mark the occasion. While details regarding a release date or further production specifics are yet to be revealed, the confirmation has generated considerable excitement among its dedicated fanbase.
The Journey of Boxxo: From Human to Vending Machine
“Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon” follows the whimsical and often perplexing adventures of a man who, after a traffic accident involving a vending machine, finds himself reincarnated in a fantasy world as a sentient vending machine named Boxxo. Incapable of movement on his own and limited to vending machine phrases, Boxxo’s survival hinges on his encounter with the young hunter Lammis, who decides to carry him on her back during her explorations of a dangerous labyrinth. This unlikely partnership forms the core of the series, blending humor, adventure, and action.
The series has gained popularity for its distinctive take on the crowded isekai genre, offering a fresh perspective with its non-human protagonist. Crunchyroll has streamed both previous seasons as they aired and also offers an English dub for the series.
Production Details and Creative Team
The anime adaptation is a collaborative effort between Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ. The first season premiered in July 2023, followed by the second season which began airing in July 2025 and concluded recently. Takashi Yamamoto, who directed the second season, took over from Noriaki Akitaya, while Tatsuya Takahashi returned to oversee the series scripts. Takahiro Sakai adapted Yūki Hagure’s original designs for animation, with Naoki Yamauchi serving as chief animation director and character designer for the second season. The main voice cast, including Jun Fukuyama as Boxxo and Kaede Hondo as Lammis, is expected to reprise their roles.
From Web Novel to Anime Phenomenon
The story originated as a web novel written by Hirukuma, first published online on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2016. Later that same year, Kadokawa Shoten acquired the title for light novel publication, featuring illustrations by Itsuwa Kato. A manga adaptation by Kunieda began serialization in August 2021. Both the light novel and manga have been licensed in English by Yen Press, further expanding the series’ reach and popularity globally.
Despite some initial challenges with the light novel series, which was reportedly canceled after three volumes, the success of the manga adaptation led to the anime’s production and a remake of the light novel series. This resurgence highlights the enduring appeal of the vending machine protagonist and his adventures. Fans are eagerly anticipating what new challenges and comical situations Boxxo and Lammis will face in the upcoming third season.
