The Story of “Roll Over and Die”
The anime adapts the light novel series written by kiki and illustrated by Kinta. The story, initially serialized as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in January 2018, was later acquired by Micro Magazine and published under their GC Novels imprint in July 2018. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses both the light novels and its manga adaptation for English-language release.
The narrative centers on Flum Apricot, a girl who, despite having zero stats and an unusable power called “Reversal,” is chosen for a hero’s party. Her life takes a dark turn when she is betrayed by the party’s sage, Jean Inteige, and sold into slavery. Facing a horrific fate, Flum finds a cursed sword, which awakens her hidden power and sets her on a “grimdark tale about one woman’s blood-soaked quest to reclaim her life!”
