Synopsis: Wisdom and Power in the Khan’s Harem
The story is a court drama set in the 13th-century Yeke Mongol Ulus, the vast Mongol Empire. It centers on Fatima, a woman from Persia with advanced medical and scientific knowledge. Fatima’s journey leads her to the palace of the Mongols, where she comes under the influence of Töregene, the sixth wife of Ögedei, the second Great Khan. Töregene harbors complex feelings about the empire, and together, these two women, one wielding knowledge and the other holding political power, begin to influence the very foundations of the empire. The manga has been critically acclaimed, topping female reader categories in “This Manga is Amazing!” and being nominated for the Manga Taisho Awards in both 2023 and 2024.
