The upcoming 2025 Doraemon film, “Nobita’s Picture World Story,” has announced the addition of the popular Japanese comedy duo Sandwich Man to its cast. This news has generated excitement among fans of both the long-running anime franchise and the beloved comedians. The film, officially titled Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari, is set to premiere in Japan on March 7, 2025, marking the 45th anniversary of the Doraemon movie series.

Sandwich Man’s Roles Revealed

The announcement confirms that Mikio Date will be lending his voice to the character of the King of Artoria, a significant role within the movie’s narrative. Meanwhile, Takeshi Tomizawa will voice a critic. This marks the first time the duo has been involved in the Doraemon franchise, adding a fresh comedic dynamic to the already anticipated movie.

Sandwich Man, known for their sharp wit and relatable humor, consists of Mikio Date and Takeshi Tomizawa. Formed in 1998, they are one of Japan’s most popular comedy duos, having won the M-1 Grand Prix in 2007. They have consistently been voted as one of the most beloved TV personalities in Japan. Their involvement promises to bring a unique blend of humor and heart to the Doraemon universe. The duo are not just comedians but also prominent figures known for their support for the Tohoku region’s recovery from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

A Medieval Adventure Awaits

The film’s story revolves around Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends as they enter a painting that transports them to a medieval European world. In this fantastical setting, they encounter Claire and Milo, two children from the kingdom of Artoria, as well as a small winged demon named Chai. Together, they embark on an adventure to confront a powerful enemy in pursuit of a legendary jewel.

Other Guest Stars and Production

In addition to Sandwich Man, the film boasts other notable guest stars. Singer Miki Fujimoto will play the Queen Consort of Artoria, who is searching for her missing daughter. Actor Ōji Suzuka will voice Paru, a mysterious art dealer in Artoria. These casting choices highlight the film’s blend of entertainment and talent.

Yukiyo Teramoto, who has directed numerous Doraemon series and movies, is at the helm of this project. The screenplay is written by Satoshi Itō, a veteran of the Doraemon franchise. The film will feature the theme song “Sketch,” performed by the popular singer-songwriter Aimyon.

The Plot and Setting

The movie’s narrative is set in a world of medieval Europe depicted in paintings. This setting offers a fresh and visually stunning backdrop for the classic Doraemon adventure. The story promises a mix of action, humor, and heart, appealing to both long-time fans and new audiences.

The main cast includes familiar voices:

  • Wasabi Mizuta as Doraemon
