Crunchyroll has officially announced its plans to stream the forthcoming two-part theatrical compilation of the first IDOLiSH7 anime season, titled IDOLiSH7 1st Beat compilation films. This revelation came during Bandai Namco Filmworks’ panel at Anime Expo. The compilation movies are set to revisit the initial season of the popular idol-themed franchise, offering fans a condensed cinematic experience.
The first part of the IDOLiSH7 1st Beat compilation is slated to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 3, 2025, with the second part following on December 5, 2025. These films are being released as part of the broader celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the IDOLiSH7 multimedia project, which began with its smartphone game in August 2015.
Crunchyroll has a long-standing history with the IDOLiSH7 franchise, having streamed all three seasons of the television anime series as they aired in Japan, starting with the first season in January 2018. This includes IDOLiSH7 Second Beat! and IDOLiSH7 Third Beat!, which ran in two split cours. Additionally, Crunchyroll streamed the IDOLiSH7 Vibrato spinoff net anime shorts that launched in February 2018. More recently, the platform also streamed IDOLiSH7 the Movie LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD, the theatrical anime concert that premiered in Japan in May 2023.
The IDOLiSH7 franchise centers around a group of aspiring idols who gather at Takanashi Productions, entrusted with the company’s future. The narrative follows the seven men—Iori Izumi, Yamato Nikaido, Mitsuki Izumi, Tamaki Yotsuba, Sogo Osaka, Nagi Rokuya, and Riku Nanase—each possessing unique personalities and unknown potential as idols. Forming the group “IDOLiSH7,” they embark on their journey to captivate audiences and aim for the top in the competitive and occasionally challenging world of idols. The original IDOLiSH7 smartphone rhythm game, developed by Bandai Namco Online, launched in 2015, and the franchise has since expanded to include novels, manga, various video games, and music releases, alongside its successful anime adaptations.
