Dark Horse Direct is giving fans of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk a new way to display their love for the series with a set of limited-edition Guts & Casca bookends. These aren’t just any ordinary bookends; they are meticulously sculpted figures that capture a poignant moment from the manga, allowing fans to literally shelve their favorite dark fantasy series with its iconic characters.

A Tribute to “Comrades in Arms”

The “Berserk: Guts & Casca Bookends” are inspired by the “Comrades in Arms” chapter from Volume 9 of the manga. Sculpted by Bigshot Toyworks, the bookends depict Guts and Casca standing amidst trees, both adorned in their armor. Guts is wielding a replacement sword of Godot, rather than his signature Dragon Slayer, adding a layer of detail that hardcore fans will appreciate.

These bookends stand at an impressive 8.75 inches tall, measured to the top of Guts’s head, with his sword adding a little extra height. The level of detail on the figures is exquisite, making them suitable for display on desks, tables, or among other Berserk collectibles.

Functionality Meets Fandom

While these figures are visually striking, they are also fully functional as bookends. They are designed to hold up your manga collection, and when placed at the ends of Dark Horse’s localization of Berserk, they make an incredible display, particularly for a manga library.

This release comes at a fitting time, as the series continues to gain traction. The 41st volume was recently localized by Dark Horse, and the 42nd English volume is set to be released in March 2025. Despite the passing of series creator Kentaro Miura, the Berserk legacy lives on through its manga, anime adaptations, and an ever-growing collection of merchandise.

Limited Availability

These bookends are not going to be around for long. Limited to just 500 units, these collectibles are exclusive to Dark Horse Direct. Priced at $249.99, they are available for pre-order, with shipping expected between June and August 2025. Given their exclusivity and the popularity of the Berserk franchise, these bookends are expected to sell out quickly.

Other Berserk Collectibles

The new bookends are just the latest addition to the wide range of Berserk merchandise available. Here’s a rundown of other recent releases:

Prime 1 Studio Guts & Casca Statue

Prime 1 Studio has announced a stunning 1/4 scale statue of Guts and Casca, part of their Legacy Art “Kentaro Miura” series. This statue captures a different, more somber moment from the series. This piece is incredibly detailed, with a LED-illuminated Berserk-themed base and a bonus “Hand of the Void” part.

The statue measures 72cm in height, 79cm in width, and 71cm in depth, making it a substantial display piece. The release is expected between October 2025 and January 2026, and it comes with a hefty price tag of $1899. The statue depicts Guts holding Casca, a poignant scene that showcases the dark and tragic nature of Berserk. Some retailers are listing this for Q1 2026.

S.H. Figuarts Isidro Action Figure

Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts line has released a new figure of Isidro, the young warrior who becomes Guts’ protégé. The figure is supervised by Studio Gaga, the manga production studio founded by Kentaro Miura. It is available for $84 in the U.S., with an estimated delivery date in March 2025. This figure is a must-have for fans who appreciate the dynamic between Guts and his companions.

Other Notable Figures

Fans can also find a variety of other figures and collectibles from different manufacturers, including:

  • Good Smile Company offers a range of Nendoroids and figma figures, including Guts, Griffith and more.
  • ThreeZero has released sixth-scale figures of Guts and Skull Knight.
  • Sideshow Collectibles features meticulously crafted figures and statues of iconic Berserk characters.
  • BigBadToyStore carries a wide selection of Berserk action figures and statues, including the S.H. Figuarts line and models from Prime 1 Studio.

Bookends and More

In addition to figures, there are other unique Berserk collectibles available:

  • A limited edition Art of War statue of Guts and Casca’s “Winter Journey.”
  • Various art prints, apparel, and accessories based on the series.
  • Model kits, such as the PLAMATEA Guts (Berserker Armor Ver.)

The Enduring Legacy of Berserk

Berserk, created by Kentaro Miura, is one of the most influential dark fantasy manga series of all time. It began publication in 1989 and has since sold millions of copies worldwide. The series has been praised for its complex characters, intricate world-building, and stunning artwork.

Despite the death of its creator, the Berserk manga continues to be produced by Studio Gaga and is currently on its 42nd collected volume. The series has also inspired multiple anime adaptations, video games, and a vast array of merchandise, proving its lasting impact on the world of manga and anime.

The new Guts & Casca bookends and other collectibles allow fans to connect with the series on a deeper level, bringing their favorite characters into their homes. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the world of Berserk, these releases offer a unique opportunity to celebrate one of the greatest manga series ever created.

With the new bookends limited to just 500, it’s an opportunity that any fan would be wise to take as soon as possible.
