What is Diary of a Female Lead: Shujinkou Nikki About?
Diary of a Female Lead: Shujinkou Nikki (主人公日记, Shujinkou Nikki) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuu Yoshinaga. The story revolves around Aoi Tsujimura, a high school girl who feels like she is not the main character in her own life. She is meek and insecure and feels overshadowed by her athletic older brother, Itsuki, and her mother, who is a famous shojo manga artist. Aoi longs for a true friend, but Itsuki, along with Aoi’s effortlessly cool classmate, Mizusawa Sena, try to help her find love, using shojo manga as a guide. Aoi begins a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and romance as she learns to love herself and find her place in the world.
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga for English release. The third compiled book volume was released in English on May 13, 2025.

Reception
The manga has been well-received for its storyline, characters, and humor. Reviewers have praised the manga for its unique storyline that stays away from shojo tropes, its healthy main relationship, and the main character’s growth. Aoi’s journey to become an amazing heroine, her progress in improving and learning to love herself, is both satisfying for her and the readers. The side relationship in Shujinkou Nikki is well-written.
