The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Yatsuki Wakatsu and Kikka Ohashi’s light novel series, “The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” (Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai), has unveiled its main voice cast and confirmed a January 2026 premiere. Kadokawa released a new trailer and visual to accompany the announcements, offering fans a glimpse into the fantastical Boys’ Love (BL) isekai series.
Key Voice Actors Join the Isekai Accounting Adventure
The newly announced cast members bring to life the central figures of this unique workplace romance in another world. Leading the cast are:
- Kent Itō as Seiichirō Kondō
- Tomoaki Maeno as Aresh Indrak
- Seiichirō Yamashita as Norbert
- Hiroki Tōchi as Kamil
Kent Itō, known for his role as Hirotaka Nifuji in “Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku,” will voice Seiichirō Kondō, the diligent accountant protagonist. Tomoaki Maeno, recognized for characters like White Blood Cell in “Cells at Work!”, is cast as the handsome Commander Aresh Indrak.
Anime Production Details and Creative Team
Studio DEEN is producing the anime, with Shinji Ishihara (known for “Sasaki and Miyano,” “Super Lovers”) directing the series. Yoshiko Nakamura, who has previously collaborated with Ishihara on several BL anime titles, is handling the series composition. Character designs are being overseen by Maki Fujii, while Megumi Ōhashi is composing the music, produced by Nippon Columbia. Akira Yamada serves as the assistant director.
A Workaholic’s New World: The Series Premise
“The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” centers on Seiichirō Kondō, a 29-year-old corporate employee whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is accidentally transported to another world through a Holy Maiden Summoning. Despite his abrupt change of scenery, Kondō’s innate workaholic nature persists, leading him to join the Royal Accounting Department of the Romany Kingdom. There, he embarks on a mission to bring order to his somewhat lackadaisical colleagues.
The narrative further complicates with the introduction of Commander Aresh Indrak, the “frosty and noble” captain of the Third Knights’ Order. A unique relationship begins to blossom between the diligent accountant and the charismatic commander, blurring the lines between professional and personal. Yen Press holds the English publishing rights for both the original light novel and its manga adaptation.
Anticipation Builds for the January 2026 Release
The anime is slated for a January 2026 premiere, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series under the title “Isekai Office Worker: The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter.” Fans can look forward to further promotional activities, including a stage event at the Animate Girls Festival 2025 (AGF2025) in November, featuring voice actors Kent Itō and Tomoaki Maeno. Additionally, the duo will host a web radio program titled “Salon de Iseshachi” to promote the anime’s charm, with Seiichirō Yamashita appearing as a guest for a special AGF2025 version.
