Anime Production and Storyline
The See You Tomorrow at the Food Court anime, directed by Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible) at Studio Atelier Pontdarc, premiered on July 7, 2025, on Tokyo MX and other networks, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it airs. The series composition is handled by Jukki Hanada, with character designs and chief animation direction by Kyuta Sakai. Kana Utatane is composing the music, and Jin Akutagawa serves as sound director. The anime is slated for a total of six episodes.
The anime adapts Shinichirō Nariie’s slice-of-life manga, which began as a Twitter web comic before serialization on Kadokawa Shoten’s Comic Newtype website in March 2020. Yen Press publishes the manga in English.
The story follows Wada, who appears to be a quiet, unapproachable rich girl, and Yamamoto, who strikes fear into those around her due to her appearance. Despite attending separate high schools, these unlikely friends meet almost daily at a shopping center’s food court. The series offers a glimpse into their laid-back afternoons as they share their thoughts on the ups and downs of high school life. Unknown to their classmates, Wada is a mobile game enthusiast with a “love-hate relationship” with a 2D character, while Yamamoto has a fondness for urban legends and her favorite YouTuber. The narrative emphasizes the contrast between their appearances and their true personalities.
